Edyta Frelik

Edyta Frelik is Assistant Professor in the Department of British and American Studies at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, Lublin, where she teaches American art, music, film, media and popular culture.

She is the winner of the 2013 Terra Foundation for American Art International Essay Prize, awarded by the Terra Foundation and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, for her article “Ad Reinhardt: Painter-as-Writer” and a co-recipient (with prof. Jerzy Kutnik) of the Terra Foundation for American Art Academic Program Grant in 2014. In 2016 she published Painter’s Word: Thomas Hart Benton, Marsden Hartley and Ad Reinhardt as Writers. In 2019 she was invited to contribute an essay to the catalogue accompanying a Marsden Hartley retrospective which opened at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark, in September and give a lecture at a symposium organized there in December.
